Shaping Tomorrow: Empowering Youth to Drive Forward Positive Impact

Recognising the pivotal role of young people in shaping solutions, policies and lasting change, the Global Shapers Community, an initiative born out of the World Economic Forum, stands as  a network of inspiring young individuals under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional, and global challenges. With more than 14,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 456 city-based hubs in 150 countries, where in each city, teams of Shapers self-organise to create projects that address the needs of their community. Projects are wide-ranging – from responding to disasters and combating poverty to fighting climate change and building inclusive communities.

The session will begin with an introduction to the Global Shapers Community characterised by a decentralised model that highlights locally and cross-regionally-led projects that exemplify young people’s commitment to taking action on critical issues and making a positive impact within their respective communities. In addition, members of the Barcelona Hub will present the work of the group and vision to shape change in the city. The second part of the session will feature an interactive workshop during which participants will identify key challenges Barcelona is facing and collaboratively devise potential avenues for solutions. One of the identified challenges may become a project for the Barcelona Hub to focus on in the near future.
